TP4056 Battery Charging Protection Module
The TP4056 1A Li-Ion Battery Charging Board with Type-C and Current Protection is a compact and efficient charging module designed for single-cell 3.7V lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries, such as 16550 cells, that lack their own built-in protection circuit. Powered by the TP4056 charging IC and the DW01 battery protection IC, this module provides a 1A charging current and automatically stops charging once the battery is fully charged.
The module also features built-in protection to safeguard the battery. If the voltage drops below 2.4V, the protection IC disconnects the load to prevent over-discharging. Additionally, the protection circuit guards against over-voltage and reverse polarity connections. In the event of incorrect wiring, the module typically sacrifices itself to protect the battery. However, always double-check your connections before use to ensure safe operation.
Using the module:
- Connect Type C cable for power, or 5V DC to pads marked IN+ and IN- on the left-hand side of the module
- Connect cell to charge to B+/B- pads on the right-hand side of the module.
- A load (something for the battery to power) can be connected to the OUT+/OUT- pads on the right-hand side
- Important! Disconnect load when charging
- The red LED indicates charging in progress, the green LED indicates charging has finished.
- Never charge your battery at a rate greater than 1C
