- This component is perfect for integrating dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) decoding into your project. The detection module interprets incoming tones and generates a coded output that can be connected to various microcontrollers.
- DTMF is commonly used in touch-tone devices, such as telephones. Each tone consists of a combination of two sine waves, creating a unique signal that can be transmitted or heard. When the module receives this signal, it decodes it and produces a binary output for use in other devices. The module also features onboard LEDs to indicate the state of the signal.
- The MT8870 Tone Decoder, developed by MITEL, is a widely used multi-frequency decode IC. It acts as a complete DTMF receiver, separating the incoming signal into high-frequency and low-frequency groups. The digital decoder then determines the key value and sends it out via four lines (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) in binary form.
