The MAX98357A I2S 3W Class-D Amplifier Breakout Board is a compact digital audio amplifier module that combines a high-quality I2S DAC and a Class-D audio amplifier in a single board. It accepts digital I2S audio signals directly from microcontrollers such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, Arduino-compatible boards, and other processors with I2S support, eliminating the need for an external DAC. The module converts digital audio into amplified analog output capable of driving a speaker directly, making it ideal for IoT, smart speakers, voice assistants, MP3 players, audio notification systems, and embedded sound projects.
Designed for efficiency and simplicity, the MAX98357A operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V power supply and can deliver up to 3.2W of output power into a 4Ω speaker. The built-in Class-D architecture provides high efficiency with minimal heat generation, making it suitable for battery-powered and portable applications. The module also features selectable gain settings, thermal protection, overcurrent protection, and click-and-pop suppression for clear and reliable audio performance.
